Lost in Translation

What is one of the things we just love about awesome children's curriculum?  It relates to us.  It sounds like how we talk to one another in real life.  It uses the expressions we use.  We feel like the characters know us.

The video below is a humorous presentation of why we moved to South America and learned Spanish.  I've actually seen this happen in person.  I felt so bad for the translator.  Curriculum that works wonderfully for us here in America can turn out as jumbled as the presentation below if we just send it as is to South America and ask them to translate it.

That's why translation is such an important part of the process!  Maximizing Children's Ministries' curriculum is translated by a person.  That in itself makes it different!  Not only that, but the personal translation is by a person who has four and a half years of experience living and working in South America.  After translation the curriculum is edited so that the final product is something that is understandable and culturally relevant.
